For manufacturers with several thousand articles, data quality determines whether a product is found and understood. Usually the data sits in the merchandise management system — correct, but sparse. What is missing is everything that turns an article number into an offer. Situations we encounter regularly. In no particular order — each case stands on its own. Articles are recorded with key technical data but without a description. That is not enough for the shop and the catalogue. Complete descriptions are generated from the existing data, in a uniform structure and tone. Technical values remain unchanged. Pass the facts through, generate only the wording — and have it checked on a sample basis. Shop, PDF catalogue, data sheets and dealer lists are maintained separately. Changes never reach everywhere. A single authoritative data set from which all channels are served. The catalogue is generated, not built. The question of which system is authoritative has to be decided beforehand. The export is running, but every language version is maintained individually and lags behind. Translations are generated from the authoritative data set and updated automatically when changes occur. Technical terms come from a maintained terminology list. For regulated products, markings and warnings are subject to mandatory translation and review — here an approval stage is needed.
