Machining

Machining is the foundation of DACH medical technology: turning, milling and grinding of instruments, implant components and equipment parts from instrument steel, titanium and special alloys. What separates medical technology machining from general subcontract manufacturing is less the machine than everything around it: seamless batch traceability from bar stock to shipping carton, documented inspection processes with calibrated equipment and, as a rule, a quality management system to ISO 13485.

Three test questions have proved their worth in selecting suppliers. First, material expertise: anyone who machines titanium Grade 5 economically has mastered cooling strategy and tool life — demonstrable through reference parts and process data, not through brochure claims. Second, metrology: contour measurement, roughness and, for implant components, CT or coordinate measuring technology belong in-house or in a named partnership. Third, the rigour applied to deviations: a supplier who can explain their 8D process is the more reliable partner once series production is running.

The register links machining with the material filters (titanium, stainless steel, PEEK) and the certification axes — so you can find precisely the contract manufacturer that matches your own compliance requirements: from the pure subcontract manufacturer to the partner with in-house cleanroom assembly and a sterile packaging chain.
